Did you know that a vanilla pod is actually the fruit of an orchid? Cultivation is a traditional process that can easily take more than 15 months. From fertilisation to the moment the pod is ready for use, everything is focused on quality. Fertilisation is still done by hand, a technique that has remained unchanged since 1841.
After harvesting, a careful refinement process begins: immersion in hot water, drying in the sun, wrapping at night and selection based on length, colour and scent. Less than 15% achieve the status of “gourmet vanilla”. It is precisely these selections that form the basis of the Delgiro range.
